Commissioned by Artwishlist to rethink its entire digital product range. This included redesigning the site’s interface, its database, and the functionality behind matching buyers with sellers. The most important objectives were to stand out in the field of art dealing websites by breaking out of stale conventions and make Artwishlist more transparent, discreet, and secure. Artwishlist is a research and networking platform for the art market. It was founded with the goal of promoting accessibility in the art world allowing an international audience of collectors, dealers, advisors and curators to research art and acquire new contacts – together with Studio Max Kuwertz.
The Collection Database offers the most comprehensive archive of artwork records, with over 10 million artworks from catalogues, galleries and auction houses compiled and edited by a team of specialists. To achieve this, Artwishlist have digitised catalogues raisonnés and important monographs of the top 100 artists (based on aggregate auction value and museum presence) and combined this data with that of auction history and museum inventories. Estimates can then be established from works that have never been on the market through comparing their parameters with similar works recently sold at auction.
Artwishlist Introductions is a matchmaking network where art dealers, advisors and collectors acquire new contacts. Users are able to create a profile and register wishes and artworks. The platform then informs users of buying and selling opportunities and allows users to contact one another directly after getting matched.
